Privacy Policy
Last updated: 13 June 2026
Lore (“Lore,” “we,” “us”) is a private family archive operated by Buckley Studios. This policy explains what we collect, why, and the choices you have. Lore is built to be private by default: your memories are shared only with the family members you invite, and we do not sell your data or use it for advertising.
Information we collect
- Account information — the email address you sign in with and the display name you choose. We use email magic links to sign you in; we do not store a password.
- Content you add — the photos, scans, recipes, audio recordings, captions, comments, tags, dates, and people you contribute to your families.
- Family & relationship data — the families (workspaces) you create or join, your role in each, and the people and relationships you record.
- Usage & device data — basic technical information needed to operate the app reliably (for example, app version, device type, and diagnostic logs).
- Support messages — if you contact us, the message and email address you provide.
Lore is free, so we don’t collect payment or financial information.
How we use information
- To provide the service: storing your archive, signing you in, and sharing content with the family members you choose.
- To enrich and organize content — for example, suggesting dates, occasions, tags, and transcriptions to make your archive searchable. These suggestions are reviewable, and a person confirms them before they’re published.
- To send service communications, such as sign-in links, invitations, and notifications you’ve enabled.
- To maintain security, prevent abuse, and respond to support requests.
We do not sell your personal information, and we do not use your family’s content to serve advertising.
AI & automated processing
To help organize your archive, we use AI to suggest dates, occasions, tags, and to transcribe audio. We send the relevant Content to our AI provider (Anthropic) solely to generate these suggestions for your family. This Content is not used to train Anthropic’s models or any general-purpose AI, and it is not retained by the provider for their own purposes. Suggestions are reviewable, and a person confirms them before they’re published.
How your content is shared
Content you add to a family is visible to the members of that family, according to their roles. If you add content to more than one family, each family receives its own copy. Content is not public and is not shared outside the families you choose.
Service providers
We rely on a small number of trusted providers to operate Lore. They process data on our behalf under agreements that restrict their use of it:
- Supabase — database, authentication, and storage of your Content.
- Anthropic — AI processing for enrichment and transcription (see above).
- Resend — delivery of sign-in links and other service emails.
- Expo — the app platform and delivery of push notifications you’ve enabled.
These providers may process and store data in the United States. We may update this list as Lore evolves and will keep this page current.
Data retention
We keep your content and account information for as long as your account is active or as needed to provide the service. You can delete content you’ve added, and you can request deletion of your account and associated personal data (see below).
Your choices & rights
- Access & deletion — you may request a copy of your personal data or ask us to delete your account. Write to us from the email address on your account.
- Notifications — you can manage push and email notifications in the app and your device settings.
- Depending on where you live, you may have additional rights under laws such as the GDPR or CCPA. We honor applicable rights requests.
Children
Lore is intended for adults to use, including to preserve memories of children in their family. It is not directed to children, and we do not knowingly allow anyone under 13 to create an account. Adults are responsible for the content they add about minors in their family. If you believe a child has created an account, or you want content about a minor removed, contact us through the support form and we’ll address it promptly.
Security
We use reasonable technical and organizational measures to protect your data, including access controls that enforce family-level privacy. No method of storage or transmission is perfectly secure, but we work to protect your information.
Changes to this policy
We may update this policy from time to time. We’ll revise the “last updated” date above and, for material changes, provide notice in the app or by email.
